Obama to General Wesley Clark: Your Services Not Needed
General Wesley Clark is not attending the Democratic National Convention. I was told by General Clark's personal office in Little Rock that he would not be attending.
Clark was informed by Barack Obama's people that there was no reason to come.
General Clark has been given no role of any kind at the convention.
Rubbing salt in the wound even more, the "theme" of Wednesday's Democratic convention agenda is "Securing America."
Wesley Clark's PAC also happens to be called SECURING AMERICA.
Clemmons goes on to say:
This is a mistake in my view. There are a lot of perspectives and competing agendas about how to direct America's next national security posture -- and General Wesley Clark should be one of the top tier names and personalities at the table.
I am travelling in Canada right now and the front page headline for Canada's Globe and Mail today is:
Taliban to target Canadian civilians
Group says slaying of aid workers was act of "revenge"; open letter threatens more bloodshed if troops don't pull out of Afghanistan

Regardlesss of the Obama campaigns view of their short term political pressures, the geopolitical crises in the world right now require the experience and world view of Wes Clark.
At the moment, Joe Biden appears to be under consideration for VP. Biden is travelling in Georgia to view the Georgia/Russia conflict. But Biden voted for the Iraq War Resolution and more recently said that Iraq should be divided into three parts.
Wes Clark pointed out that families live on both sides of any artificial divide and that he learned that artificialy dividing a country is unworkable. Clark of course spoke out at Obama did against the Iraq War.
Is Barack considering Biden? And ignoring the wisdom of Clark?
When will our political leaders recognize that while empire might profit a few in the short run, it is leading us to the edge of a geopolitical and financial precipice?
I hope that Steve Clemons is wrong but an update reconfirmed his news.
When I called Obama headquarters today, the person I spoke to had no information...had not heard that Wednesday at the Convention would be called "Securing America" Day in honor of the troops; had not heard that General Clark might not be invited; did not know much at all.
Here we are...the only person who stood up to the McCain mythology seems to be persona non grata...even as McCain is gaining ground by spreading his mythology thickly through the media to win hearts and minds of evangelicals and others.
I e-mailed Chuck Todd about Wes Clark a couple of weeks ago and he e-mailed back that after Clark's comments on McCain on Face the Nation he did not think he was under consideration anymore for VP.
Regardless of whether or not he ever was, it is a terrible mistake fior the Obama campaign to not recognize that the McCain mythology is dangerous to the possibility of Democrats succeeding in November.
Clark was the only person with the intestinal fortitude to say "the emperor has no clothes".
But politics as usual is covering up the truth. And another critical election is hanging in the balance.
