I consider myself somewhat of a conservative democrat. Someone who is against abortion and believe that marriage is something sacred between a man and a women. However, I also believe that fighting against poverty is a purpose given to us by Jesus Christ himself, and those that ignore it, I believe should be ashamed of calling themselves Christians. This is how I perceive the religious right. I do not agree with what they say and I am willing to call them out for heresy and idol worship. I believe in the the separation of church and state - and those that inject political and partisan views into sermons and to their congregation are doing God a disservice.
Go on and say what you like about me. But Im on your side. I want none other for Obama to win this election. He is a true man of faith and I felt that his conviction and his beliefs were powerful enough to sway some evangelical voters his way. He was honest and truthful. McCain pandered to those who crave for war and to his core. So this debate was unfair to say the least. Obama was in a place where they did not want him. He was thrown into the Lion's den.
But one thing I can say is that Warren did Obama a big, big favor. Warren validated that a democrat can be a Christian too even though they may have some disagreements. This will ring loud to those who are the young adult evangelist out there. That they are free to decide who to vote for. Rather than their minister or pastor deciding for them on who to vote for. By Obama being in the church and showing that he is a man of faith and answering some tough questions, it showed and proved that once and for all that democrats can also be Christians and that its also okay to vote for them.
Now you might not think this is a big deal. But to the Christian world it is. Sure McCain will garnish the bulk of the evangelical votes. But not all Christians are evangelicals. And because of this faith forum, I can see some of those evangelical votes going to Obama.
Sure you all say that McCain has cheated. He has lied and he pandered and even broke the rules. My rebuttal to all of this is that he will get what's coming to him. God works in mysterious ways.
It may have seem that McCain won this debate (if you consider it as a debate). But God is also sowing his seeds into the fate of McCain's campaign. God is making it known to all that McCain made up the story that about the line in the dirt. People and even the media are starting to question him about this and I don't think this story will end until election time. There is also the conspiracy that he cheated. I think that Warren is a man of his word and it must boil him in his bed to know that he added someone who works for the devil. He allowed evil to get the best of him. And I believe this story too has a lot of legs to go on and it won't stop here.
So fear not my friends. God will handle McCain's evil deeds. He has sowed seed to his destruction. This was not a real debate. Obama just came from his vacation and he has learned what the enemy looks like. He will come out of this stronger in the end.
