This is going to be a short diary, so forgive me, but this is getting too pathetic, seeing everyone convinced we're gonna lose. It's sad when I see Michael Moore and Bill Maher and the Huffington Post go into panic mode as well. It's even sadder that some find it so gosh-darn difficult to do a little volunteer work for the campaign, but it's much easier to scream and cry as if you all were Corporal Hudson from Aliens.
It's become very aggravating to come on here or Huffington and see headlines about how we're all screwed and whatever the hell else.
Has anyone forgotten that our lives are at stake here? This isn't sports standings. This is our futures, and we have to work for it as if those were the stakes here.
You all better take this into consideration:
1. McCain's gotta spend all his money before the convention, and thats why he's going all out now. Obama, on the other hand, is most likely saving his best for after the GOP convention. Of course, we have the RNC funds that'll probably keep McCain afloat the rest of the way, but knowing Obama, this will be sweet. We already know he won't allow himself to be swiftboated.
2. Have any of you forgotten that this man is not Michael Dukakis or John Kerry? When McCain put out those false ads, Obama put new ones out almost right away that didn't stoop down to his low. I live in Vegas and Obama's been consistently on the airwaves with a mixture of negative and positive ads, not to mention his late night informercials, and whatever else. Plus, McCains ads were more or less laughed at by even Republicans. Certainly, we've seen attack ads with a lot more bite that the Britney/Paris one!
3. I went to the Nevada HQ opening with Harry Reid and Shelley Berkley a week ago and there was so much energy in the air and the place was too damn packed for a middle sized office (There's several more in Las Vegas alone). People were already phone banking and canvassing as soon as the festivities wore down, myself included. That's what real supporters are, and you will never convince me that McCain can even come close to matching that. And that's what really speaks volumes better than any poll out there.
4. Zogby isn't that credible of a poll. I'd actually like to know their base of voters they polled. Nobody just doesn't jump up 5 points based on nothing. And everyone else (Gallup has Obama up 2 today) seems to shows Obama still up (Margin of error be damned!). Plus, we got the convention and VP coming up, and anyone who can't sense a big kick-ass time is seriously living under a rock!
You don't like how things are going? Then do your part to help fix that! Register voters! Phone bank! Canvass! Sitting on your ass as you let Chris Matthews hypnotize you into believing we're a dead heat isn't going to help us win! We may be ahead regardless of how tight it may be getting, but we certainly cannot sit, and we certainly cannot panic!
Plus, we got a kick-ass convention coming up! And I'm giddy for it!
NOTE: Could the armchairs and chicken littles please refrain from commenting if you're just going to express more negativity? I'd like to keep this blog as positive and full of hope and energy.
