What else could we have expected from the "fair and balanced" chief of AP's Washington bureau?
Let's see... how could lil' Ron spin this Biden pick without getting into too much hot water? Sure those liberals threw a fit over his chummy emails to Karl Rove, but... what Ron worry? He'll just pen an opinion piece, throw a softball to Sean Hannity, Rush Limbaugh, and Bill o'Reilly, and let them do the dirty work. Not that these lackeys of the radical right needed any help, but why not throw them a bone anyway? Typical conservative greed and bigotry have managed, through another well funded smear campaign, to push Obama's poll numbers down and bring another corporate proxy (actually two if you count Mitt) one step closer to occupying the White House. So now that we've established that Obama is too "exotic", and too "liberal", it's time to paint him as "weak"...
Here's part of what Ron Fournier opined regarding Joe Biden being selected as Obama's VP. Keep in mind, this is the AP's Washington bureau chief writing this...
The picks say something profound about Obama: For all his self-confidence, the 47-year-old Illinois senator worried that he couldn't beat Republican John McCain without help from a seasoned politician willing to attack. The Biden selection is the next logistical step in an Obama campaign that has become more negative — a strategic decision that may be necessary but threatens to run counter to his image.
Democratic strategists, fretting over polls that showed McCain erasing Obama's lead this summer, welcomed the move. They, too, worried that Obama needed a more conventional — read: tougher — approach to McCain.
