Ok...what better way to have a lazy Sunday in between post-VP deflation and pre-convention hype. I just ran across this fluff news piece, entitled "25 Things You Might Not Know About Obama." I'll share my favorites.
- His high school basketball nickname at Punahou School in Hawaii was "O’Bomber" and he favored a left-hand, double-pump shot.
Personally, I like "Barack America" better.
- As a child in Indonesia he was introduced to snake meat and roasted grasshopper. His stepfather, Lolo Soetoro, presented him with a pet monkey, "Tata."
No wonder he switched to arugula.
- While living in Indonesia, his mother would wake him at 4 a.m. for three hours of English lessons before he went to school.
As a result, I think he'll be alert for any 3 a.m. phone call, and he will be able to respond in fluent English, unlike our current President.
- While a student at Harvard Law School, he applied to appear in a black pride pinup calendar. He was rejected by an all-female committee.
Hmmm...not black enough? Not pretty enough? Late bloomer? That one boggles the mind.
- His favorite movies include "Casablanca," "The Godfather" films, "Lawrence of Arabia" and "One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest."
Translation = Romantic, Fighter, Fighter, Knows How to Deal with McCain's Insanity.
- He considers his worst habit to be checking his Blackberry.
I'm sure some others can relate...
- He owns a set of red boxing gloves autographed by Muhammad Ali.
I guess Muhammad Ali is a fan of his as well, since he will be attending the Democratic National Convention.
- He keeps on his desk a carving of a wooden hand holding an egg, a Kenyan symbol of the fragility of life.
My top favorite--an insight into what kind of President he will be.
