I don't often write diaries unless I have something really important to say. And today is one of those days. I'll try to keep this short & sweet.
I've been an Obama supporter from the beginning. As a resident of Illinois, I was proud to cast my vote to make him our Senator & thrilled as hell that he decided to run for President in 2008.
Throughout this oh-so-very-long primary, I never wavered in my support for Barack Obama for President. But several times, I did wonder what I would do if Hillary ended up as the Democratic nominee. She pissed me off so many times, and I truly wondered if I could vote for her, if it came to that.
After Hillary's great speech last night, darthstar's "Thanks, Hillary" diary made me seriously consider making a donation to help Hillary pay down her campaign debt to thank her for her speech -- and because she wore a beautiful Kossack orange pantsuit.
But I had one caveat: I wanted to hear Big Dog's speech first.
Hillary's actions today on the convention floor brought on a flood of tears -- tears of joy, tears of gratitude. Her grace & dignity in suspending the vote & nominating Obama convinced me that I need to show my gratitude.
And so, I donated to her campaign for the first & only time.
Please join me in thanking Hillary Clinton by donating something as a token of appreciation.
But (as I understand it) you must do so before midnight tonight since Obama is now officially the nominee.
Thank you.
Be kind, for everyone you meet is fighting a hard battle.
