A few weeks ago Focus on the Family had the audacity to ask their members to pray for rain of mass proportions at Invesco Field. Putting aside the obvious issues of morality and stupidity, who does this kind of thing? Don't we have bigger problems that require our prayer? Maybe pray to bring our troops home safely? Or healthcare for the 50 million uninsured? A better economy? A smarter president? I could go on but I won't. Those of you who watched the final day of the convention know we had beautiful weather all day yesterday. In fact, I don't think it could have been much better if it were ordained by God himself. But have you heard the other news?
Hurricanes are threatening to invade the republican convention next week and there is talk of moving it to another time. How sad??? And so close to the anniversary of Katrina? Do the words irony and karma mean anything to you? Because all this smacks of the biggest F*ck You to the republicans that I can picture.
I personally emailed Focus on the Family and gave them a polite reminder that God might be trying to tell them something. Not only did he not ruin our convention but he may very likely ruin the republican convention. Maybe they should take a sign from God and vote for Barack Obama! Yes We Can.
(Sorry for the snark but sometimes I can't help myself!)
