Kossacks in ACTION!
If you can join me tabling in Oakland today at the Grand Lake Theatre I could WAY use the help. Also you could help with carrying signs around the Farmers Market. VISABILITY is EVERYTHING in politics. Leaving to go there soon so will get back to all of your comments. :)
Fellow Kossack and frequent diarist here Rebecca Kaplan (Reb Kaplan)is running for the very coveted "At-Large" seat on the Oakland City Council. Rebecca's diverse experience as a civil rights attorney, Director for the AC Transit Board, and known Progressive Oakland City Activist makes her the right choice for Oakland City Council. She is also a huge Obama supporter.
Stop by our table at the Grand Lake Farmers Market in Oakland this Saturday 10-2. This will be our second large visability effort for the General Election in November. Rebecca is in a run-off for the City Council seat. We'll be tabling plus canvassing the crowds handing out hand-bills. The campaing needs enthusiastic volunteers to help with the campaign - is that you? Sign up Saturday.
Oh and please drop by to get a Apartment or Business Sign, Yard Sign, and/or Buttons. Neighbors want to see other neighbors are votin Kaplan. We sure would like to see your friendly Kossack faces. Rebecca is one of us folks. She needs your support.
Many know here that I had posted frequently these last few months promoting her campaing activites. Recent fundraising events such as one at the Bulldog Coffee Shop on Broadway in the Oaksterdam district of Oakland have been A BIG success. Well attended by her primary Supporters and Voluteers with many new faces - all with one goal in mind to elect Rebecca to the City Council this November.
As many know here at DailyKOS local politics are the best. Hell - you can support Obama right along side your local candidate-easy. When you get involved in your community Democrats those efforts really make a difference - really pay off right where you live.
How?
* First you get your voice heard on matters the mean something to you.
* You put your good intentions "IN MOTION" cause sittin on the sidelines ain't where it's at.
* You connect to your community and make Gr8t new friends.
Kossacks - Rebecca is one of us. You will never find a more committed Progressive Democrat. She was an early support of Obama for President.
Here is what you can do to elect Rebecca:
* Come out Saturday in support. Pick up a SIGN for your window or yard.
* Volunteer with the campaign - we are going to do many different and "FUN" events in the Oakland Community now until the election.
* If you have the means $ send Rebecca da money - donate to her campaign. Can't stress that enough. Oh and you don't have to be an Oaklander to do that. Campaigns only exist with cash. It takes a lot of dough $ to finance fliers and buttons and yard signs - oh yah!
* Go here and do it now >

Team Kaplan is moving this weekend into a great new space at 19th & Braodway. I'll give you more detail in future posts.
There is a lot to do in Oakland. Folks Oakland is what it is and it's Real. It could be better. Rebecca is a catalyst for change here. "Yes We Can" is what her campaign is all about.
Kaplan has broad support - it includes the Democratic Party, the California Nurses Association, Central Labor Council, The Green Party, Oakland Firefighters Association, Asian Pacific Caucus, Harvey Milk LBGT Democratic Club, Victory Fund, the Oakland Tribune, and Bay Guardian newspapers plus she just scored a terrific new endorsement from the Oakland Chamber of Commerce. We are on our way!

Please come to the Grand Lake Framers Market this Saturday 10-2 and show your support.
