it's best just to step out of the way and let them do it. I noticed last night and today that none of Obama's people where on TV. This made me angry at first, because I think it's pretty obvious that McCain's pick is beyond insane. The fact there is any debate at all baffles me. I don't see how these people are keeping a straight face. This is the dumbest decision a potential President has made in the history of EVER. Yes, she's from Alaska, that means she's an expert on foreign policy with Russia.
And I'm like, come on Obama, knock this out of the park. What's going on? But as I thought more about...Mama did raise no fool. What is Obama up to?
This isn't just about the election now. Obama is going to win. We are talking about a man that is such a genius at running an election campaign that NORTH frickin' DAKOTA has a good chance of going blue this election. And that was before McCain took any shred of crediability the Republicans had left and flushed it down the tiolet.
If Obama plays this right (which given his track record to far, I'd say is 99% certain), not only will the Republicans lose the Presidency, nearly the entire House and Senate will be Democrats.
The only people that will support this decision are the most lunatic of the right-wing fringe. The Independents and Moderate Republicans are either going to be forced to vote for Obama, a third party, or just not vote at all. This is going to be a complete an total disaster for the Republican Party.
Part of the Republican's success has been that they are able to effectively make the argument that they are the best ones to keep the country safe. They've gotten Pro-Choice, Pro-Labor people to vote for them because they can exploit fear. Also, the older folks voting fondly remember Ike and Reagan (and some Nixon if they were being honest) fighting the Commies. They've done a good job of keeping their cred in this area over the years, even through the Bush/Cheney disaster, they have people loyal to them on this issue.
That's completely gone. Any sane Republican or Independent is going to see the possibility of Sarah Palin as Commander-in-Chief as way more scarier than anything Barack Obama and Joe Biden could do in office.
Plus, for all the young voters that don't remember any Republican President except Bush, this will completely ruin the Republican brand for Generation Y. I wouldn't be surprise if Obama gets 60 to 70% of their vote.
I know I was wrong about Romney being the VP...but my assumption was based on the mistaken belief that Republicans could still make rational decisions when needed.
If Obama is smart, he should just see how the Republican convention plays out before going hard on the offensive. Republicans in the House and the Senate have to see how dangerous this is for them. The Convention will be chaos. I wouldn't be surprised if even more Republicans refuse to show up. And that ones that do...they may try to force Romney or someone else onto the ticket. It will be chaos.
Just be patient...
