We already know that the McCain/Palin campaign lied about Palin's opposition to the "bridge to nowhere" during her debut speech and again the next day. Most here are also familiar with today's Reuters report that the McCain campaign claims that he knew of Bristol Palin's pregnancy prior to choosing her as his running mate (I just heard this claim repeated on CNN).
Mark Halprin at Time is wondering if this claim is true:
Did the McCain campaign know before Sarah Palin was picked?
What Palin’s press secretary said when asked by the Anchorage newspaper over the weekend if Bristol Palin is pregnant:
Anchorage Daily News: "The Daily News had asked Palin’s press secretary, Bill McAllister, over the weekend to address rumors that Bristol was pregnant."
"I don’t know. I have no evidence that Bristol’s pregnant," he said on Saturday."
Either Palin kept her own press secretary in the dark but told McCain, the Palin press secretary is lying, or we have yet another McCain lie.
I think that the straight talk express is speeding across the the bridge to nowhere.
