We have just been owned folks. We just got owned bad. It's out on Drudge, townhall.com, and every other right wing site, and will soon hit more mainstream outlets. I'm talking about the accusations that someone on this site made about Sarah Palin faking her last pregnancy. This fake story has allowed the real story of her daughter's pregnancy to skate by as a byline on being attacked previously by hateful left wing loons. Sadly, we are now discredited, and dismissed, and will have to work 10x harder to get anything we truly uncover (REAL stories) into other news sources. The blame for this has already been placed on Senator Obama by McCain's people, even though he of course had not do with it. We cannot allow this to happen again. It's time for us to create a compact (Kossack Kompact if you will) on these types of diaries.

I (state your name) pledge to NOT do damage to my fellow Kossacks, Democrats or the Obama campaign through what I post. I agree to

  1. Always carefully research stories and verify them until sure of their authenticity.

2.Never use personal attacks against candidates or their families.

3.Keep my comments free from hate speech.

  1. Refrain from nasty comments about disasters, diseases and other misfortune befalling people we don't agree with.

5.Condemn any comments or diaries that don't live up to these standards.

It's up to all of us to police ourselves. This is a start, and we need to make sure it happens. Every time we fail, those whom we fight to elect suffer.

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.
