It's only been a week and already we can put together, Sarah Palin's Greatest Hits. I wonder what else will come to light in the following weeks. But first I wanted to showcase my Top 5 pick for Sarah Palin.
Top 5: Issues (the ones with legs I think deserve more media attention and investigation)
Top 5: Funniest Moments (and other curiosities)
Top 5: Topics and Rumors (that I think have no weight)
Let me know what you think should be added, deleted or moved up in the charts.
Top 5 ISSUES
#5) Firing of Librarian and other officials
Palin Asked City Librarian About Censoring Books, Insisted It Was ‘Rhetorical.’ In 1996, according to the Frontiersman, Wasilla’s library director Mary Ellen Emmons said Palin asked her outright if she could live with censorship of library books. Emmons said, "This is different than a normal book-selection procedure or a book-challenge policy. ... She was asking me how I would deal with her saying a book can’t be in the library." Palin said in response, "Many issues were discussed, both rhetorical and realistic in nature." [Frontiersman, 12/18/96]

#4) Sarah Palins pregnant daughter Bristol was given a Choice!
Her 17 year old daughter is 5 months pregnant but that is not the story. Are we missing the bigger picture here? It was reported 17 year old Bristol was "given a choice with this baby." Bristol was given a choice, something women had to fight so hard for. While the irony is if her mother becomes our VP all future generations of women will loose that freedom. She is a staunch republican that believes in all circumstances, Roe vs Wade, should be over turned even in situations of rape and incest. So she was willing to offer that choice to her daughter but thinks the women of the United States don’t deserve that same choice? Sarah Palin, the woman of this nation want the same freedom to choose that you offered your daughter!
The rumors and accusations are enough to turn this election season into another issue of an inquiring magazine. How ever there is one fact in this slew of information I find interesting. Sarah Palin’s daughter Bristol Palin was taken out of school for over 5 months because she had mononucleosis. Where was the mother during this time? With her ultra conservative family values, how was she caring for her sick daughter? Because in this same time frame as Bristol was sick with mono, she was having unprotected, out of wedlock, underage sex and getting pregnant.

#3) McCain had Criticized Earmarks from Palin in the Past!
McCain also criticized $450,000 set aside for an agricultural processing facility in Wasilla that was requested during Palin's tenure as mayor and cleared Congress soon after she left office in 2002. The funding was provided to help direct locally grown produce to schools, prisons and other government institutions, according to Taxpayers for Common Sense, a nonpartisan watchdog group.

#2) Sarah Palin and her Pastor Problem
http://www.youtube.com/...
Kalnins bristled at the treatment President Bush was receiving over the federal government's handling of Hurricane Katrina. "I hate criticisms towards the President," he said, "because it's like criticisms towards the pastor -- it's almost like, it's not going to get you anywhere, you know, except for hell. That's what it'll get you."
Much of his support for the current administration has come in the realm of foreign affairs. Kalnins has preached that the 9/11 attacks and the invasion of Iraq were part of a "world war" over the Christian faith, one in which Jesus Christ had called upon believers to be willing to sacrifice their lives.
He preaches repeatedly about the "end times" or "last days," an apocalyptic prophesy held by a small but vocal group of Christian leaders. During his appearance with Palin in June, he declared, "I believe Alaska is one of the refuge states in the last days, and hundreds of thousands of people are going to come to the state to seek refuge and the church has to be ready to minister to them.
Speaking before the Pentecostal church, Palin painted the current war in Iraq as a messianic affair in which the United States could act out the will of the Lord. She said, Iraq was "a task from god."

#1) Troopergate
The official investigation into Gov. Palin's firing of Public Safety Commissioner Walt Monegan. (because he would not fire a state trooper, her X brother in-law) Steve Branchflower, the lead investigator, began trying to arrange a deposition of the governor days before her veep selection. And despite claiming executive privilege to shield requested emails, up until that point Palin had promised full cooperation with the probe. Now, however, she is refusing to submit to questioning by Branchflower unless he and the legislative committee that appointed him agree to relinquish control of the investigation and turn it over to a state review board made up of three Palin appointees. Yesterday, Palin took the unusual step of having her lawyer, Thomas van Flein, file an ethics complaint against her with the state's Attorney General. This, she hopes, will lead the AG to give the investigation to the aforementioned state personnel board. Unless that happens, and Branchflower agrees to close down his investigation, she will refuse to testify.

#1) Pledge of Allegiance?
Question: Are you offended by the phrase "Under God" in the Pledge of Allegiance? Why or why not?
Palin: Not on your life. If it was good enough for the founding fathers, its good enough for me and I'll fight in defense of our Pledge of Allegiance.
The pledge, of course, was not written until 1892 and the words "under God" were not added until the 1950s. Now that's hilarious!
