Folks, I don't write very many diaries. I must say though, I am disgusted by what I saw tonight. An entire group of people living in another world than the one I live in.
More below the fold.
From:
Faith, Certainty and the Presidency of George W. Bush
Published: October 17, 2004
In the summer of 2002, after I had written an article in Esquire that the White House didn't like about Bush's former communications director, Karen Hughes, I had a meeting with a senior adviser to Bush. He expressed the White House's displeasure, and then he told me something that at the time I didn't fully comprehend -- but which I now believe gets to the very heart of the Bush presidency.
The aide said that guys like me were ''in what we call the reality-based community,'' which he defined as people who ''believe that solutions emerge from your judicious study of discernible reality.'' I nodded and murmured something about enlightenment principles and empiricism. He cut me off. ''That's not the way the world really works anymore,'' he continued. ''We're an empire now, and when we act, we create our own reality. And while you're studying that reality -- judiciously, as you will -- we'll act again, creating other new realities, which you can study too, and that's how things will sort out. We're history's actors . . . and you, all of you, will be left to just study what we do.''
I've made several comments here and other places during the conventions, but tonight, watching Rudy (did he think he was George Carlin? uggg) make jokes at the expense of not only Obama and Biden, but every person that lives in Illinois. (Was Rudy talking about the Mob?)
Sarah Palin, it was more of the same. She was against the bridge to nowhere? Well, she was for it before she was against it....and she still kept the money. Maybe she should've funneled some of that money to Wasilla to satisfy the debt she left the town.
OK, back to the convention and the blockquote.
The Republican convention so far has proven what is in that quote. They keep saying the opposite of what they have done.
"Liberal Washington"? Really?
The Repub convention is a lie, and using the neocon tactic of what is Up is Down, Black is White, Left is Right, Wrong is Right.
Use this diary as a place to drop off all of the Orwellian type of phrases or comments by Repubs. Either from today or from the past. Let's get a good list here.
Example: Clean Skies Initiative.
Thanks Kossacks. My head was about to explode tonight and I have a place to release that energy.
