Okay. I forced myself to watch the Republican speeches last night. It was very painful to watch and listen to. My blood pressure probably reached a dangerous level.
Mitt Romney looks good, but nothing of substance come out of his mouth, just cheap shots and the same tired rhetoric of the lunatic right. Rudy Giuliani is the very definition of sleaze, I wouldn't want my children alone in a room with him. Again, no substance and cheap shots. And Sarah Palin? Her speech was pathetic. Most of her autobiography was exaggerated or the exact opposite of the truth. I am sure the more we dig, the more dirt we will find on her. She paraded her "off limits" family around like a bunch of trained monkeys and her below the belt shots against the Democrats and especially Barack Obama were disgusting. And isn't it funny how much their "platform" mirrors Barack's, except we all know that it is bull#$%@!
McCain/Palin will do nothing for the working or middle-class if they are elected. Health care costs will go up, not down, the only ones who will get tax break are the ones who don't need them, their solution to the energy crisis will be drill, drill, drill and more tax breaks for the sleazy oil monopoly. They will not control spending and they will not reduce the size of government. And protect our freedom? How? With more spying and wiretapping of citizens? By gutting the Constitution? By putting more grandmas on the No Fly List? By going to war against the whole world? If John McCain knows how to capture Osama bin Laden, why the hell hasn't he done so? I agree with General Wesley Clark, being a POW was a terrible experience, but it does not make anyone ready to be Commander in Chief. McCain is no maverick; he is an angry old man with one foot in the grave; which makes his VP choice all the scarier. Pit-bull in lipstick? More like Pat Buchanan in a dress.
And I fear for our children if birth control is redefined as abortion and creationism is taught in the classrooms. I have a 15 year old daughter. We have already told our family doctor that she can have birth control whenever she wants, without having to have our consent. And if she did get pregnant and made the decision to keep the baby that would be her choice and we would support her, but if she were to choose to have an abortion, I will gladly drive her to the clinic.
I just made another donation to Barack. As bad as the pugs are, we should never underestimate them!
