If you have been following the race for U.S. Senate in Kansas, you have no doubt noticed that Pat Roberts continues to try and use the old strategy of not debating your opponent. Maybe its because Pat just doesn't know any other way.
Well, it also appears as though a lot of other people and organizations have taken notice to the fact that Pat won't debate Jim Slattery. In fact, Slattery's campaign has been keeping a running tally of all the invitations that both they and Pat Roberts have received to debate and discuss their positions on the issues.
Pat Roberts said he is too busy in all these cases.
Now I have seen debate challenges in the past where the challenger just throws out some random number of times to appear. And then there are no real opportunities or sponsors to debate to back it up. But when you have 36 offers and you turn down every single one, something is seriously wrong. And these are media outlets, League of Women Voters, an American Legion post, universities and chambers of commerce. 36!
I'd like to think that Pat will change his mind, but he still thinks he did nothing wrong as the Senate Intelligence Chair before going into war.
