I tell you guys, Sarah Palin is the gift that keeps on giving.
Last week I wrote about how surprised I was that my friend and co-worker was thinking of voting for McCain. She really loved his Maverick(TM) image. I was horrified. Yet, there was hope since she was willing to listen to our side's view.
Because she is a veteran, I sent her some youtube video of Tammy Duckworth and Joe Biden speaking at the Democratic convention (Tammy talked about veterans issues). She really appreciated this info. I was so busy at work this week that I hadn't touched base with her to get feedback.
Well, a few of us went out to lunch today, including her and . . .
the conversation turned to Sara Palin. This isn't the first time she, I and another female coworker had discussed Sarah Palin with her (she wasn't too impressed), but apparently the more she found out about Caribou Barbie, the less she liked.
After some discussion this afternoon about how Sarah had cut funding (read here) in her state for special needs kids, that was the last straw for my friend. You see, she's a retired teacher and knew first hand how tough it was for those working with special needs children.
Her exact words were, "When I found that out. That did it for me."
She will now be happily voting for Obama.
Yeaahhhh!!!! Woo hoo!
Sarah Palin converts another one - for our side. Ha ha ha ha.
On a more serious note, I feel that a good way to approach undecided people is to target a specific issue or issues they care about and give them some facts on how the Maverick(TM)/Palin side treats that issue. If you can't explain it yourself, find some video (or an article) that can "do the talking for you."
Oh yeah, and her husband is a republican who loves Sarah. She said that when he was trying to talk about the republican convention with her, she told him . . .
"I don't ever wanna discuss politics with you again!"
HA!
Okay, back to celebrating.
