I'm sure you know the one. The Governor (as opposed to merely a Senator). The one from the state with lots of land, and lots of oil. The one with not a whole heckuva lot of experience. Just a short stint as Governor. Before that, there was a neat trick with the local taxpayers to foot the cost of a piece of land, which I believe they're still paying off down there. And before that? Well, really nothing to be too overly proud of. A mediocre academic career, and ... I doubt there's anything else anyone would want to volunteer to the discussion.
Oh, congeniality, it can't be denied. I'm sure most people would say the same thing. Who would you rather have inside your home, at your kitchen table? That other guy would put ketchup on venison!!
What could happen to our country worries me. When someone this politically unskilled takes the helm, there's always someone pointing them which direction to go. Do you really think they'll put this newcomer in charge? Who will be the real puppetmaster? Do you think this is really Dick Cheney's secret dream? I cringe to think of the actual candidate's lack of foreign experience. Crossing the border in order to get better booze isn't my idea of a Conde Nast traveler. Such a lack of curiosity worries me. It should worry you.
Seriously this candidate is really a pawn in the hands of Big Oil. How can one's family make its livelihood in an industry, and it not have an influence? Oh, sure, we're supposed to believe that this time it will be different, this is a person we can actually trust. Here we go again with just another tool of the man, if you ask me.
The candidate I'm referring to is, of course, George W. Bush
