my wife is asleep. Truth is, she's probably heard most of this before and I feel like repeating myself.
This might be crossposted at my wingnut best friends email address because his will finally be it - the one argument to make him finally see the light - just like Obama is going to do with the Iranians.
But really, who am I kidding, it's mostly going to be random thoughts...
We all know the traditional media situation is borderline frightening. They've been worked over to point where they're convinced if they point out more lies on one side than the other that they're taking sides even if one side is clearly spewing more lies than the other.
The Truth is they're taking sides when they don't.
If John McCain were not a war hero, he would have been laughed out of the election months ago.
The McCain campaign is essentially admitting they won't let Palin do interviews because she's unprepared while having the gall to insist that they don't have to "Let" her if they don't want to.
THE PLATFORM OF THEIR CAMPAIGN IS GOVERNMENT TRANSPARENCY. They're running the most opaque campaign we've ever seen.
After calling Obama an extremist for six months, they have put the most extremist vice presidential candidate we've ever seen on their ticket and the nation has not gotten a chance to ask her a single question on anything other than her specialty - oil pipelines.
Is this blogging? Is it blogging when you post a comment? If I write about how I just scratched my crotch am I liveblogging my balls?
Yes, I'm a little stoned.
Obama needs hang some kethchy nicknames on his best economic proposals. That would seal the deal. Seriously.
And then it occurs to me - and this actually could be one of the arguments - that if it ever gets talked about, it could catch on and maybe even, if it tries real hard, grow up to be a "Meme."
Just another bonus of this fascinating election, we all got to really learn what one of those is.
Obama actually is keeping it classy. Even hardcore righties would be forced to admit it. It's just so damn ballsy. He's going for it all - he's trying to vanquish their methods of winning elections. Show them it won't work anymore. He's not just trying to win this election. Obama is trying to give us back our country's political discourse.
I wonder if the polls have their turnout models as off base as we hope they do.
By the way, do you think Obama can get away with calling a press conference listing boilerplate McCain campaign talking point lies and challenging McCain to stop repeating them? Can he look McCain in the eye during a debate and challenge him not to lie? Sad fact is probably not.
The other amazing thing is the hypocrisy. And not just from McCain's campaign, but from his constituents. THe double standard is shocking. I get it when it comes from the campaign, they're trying to win. In a sense they're just doing their jobs - I'm pretty sure they don't believe their bullshit and know a good lie when they write it. I'm talking about some of their voters.
Our Republican friends, my wingnut buddy, the person you know in your life who doesn't base their votes on God and guns...
SUBURBAN REPUBLICANS.
They tend to vote Republican because they care about their pocket books first and foremost and were raised with the calcified residue of Reagen turning the economy around after Carter. They're convinced Republicans are always better for the economy. They were raised on the CW in the air in America that Republicans are stronger on defense.
These are the people that need to be won over. This is the swingvoter of 2008. These are the people you probably know and this is what we need to tell them.
Take an objective look at their tax proposals and take them each at their word. Given our debt, doesn't Obama's make more sense?
Why are you placing your trust in a party that publicly denigrates the finest education available to man?
If tax cuts are such a panacea, how could we possibly find ourselves in this economic situation? And you know damn well Clinton presided over outstanding economic times - and balanced the budget.
You know damn well that an extra few percent of income tax here and there do not a Marxist make.
If Barack Obama were in John Edwards body, this election would not even possibly even appear to be close.
Obama is clean. It just so happens to be true. The guy has never been accused of anything, even involving Rezko. That's why they're forced to get into a tizzy over his "Associations." I happen to know several people who know him personally and the guy is who he says he is.
If your friend is Jewish or otherwise especially concerned about Israel, they need to know that Obama rose through the ranks in Chicago as a candidate closely aligned with the Jewish community. Many of his original political mentors, sponsors and fund raisers were and still are Jewish. He is a true friend to the community.
The campaign Obama has run has been exemplary and will be studied for its smoothly shrewd strategy, next generation grass roots organizing, lack of drama and just plain class. He'll go on the attack, but only about policy. He comes pretty damn close to practicing what he preaches. That is a reflection of his leadership.
If you truly study their personalities, do you really thin McCain has the temperment and intellect to make the right decisions on national security?
Do you really think he's up the the whole job and not just President of the Surge?
Isn't Palin's background, vis-a-vis Alaskan Independence Party, the speech she gave and the speech she heard two weeks ago in her Church and her positions on creationism and abstinence only education a little alarming to your sensibilities. Did McCain know? What does it say about him if he did? What does it say about him if he didn't?
If you're going to continue to buy into the belittling of Obama because he gives good speeches, then you can't buy into the idea that Palin is qualified because she gave a good speech the other night. At least Obama writes his speeches.
Phil Graham's economic policies have been good for no one except for him and some of his buddies.
If it weren't for some completely unprecedented maneuvers by Ben Bernanke to increase liquidity and backstop financial institutions, we would probably be in the start of a depression. Do you think John McCain understand how we got here.
Obama does.
When McCain doesn't know what to do about the economy, he's going to ask PHil Graham.
Do you really think Obama is not going to do his best to protect this country?
The worst he has ever been credibly accused of is being careerist. Like you can become President without that trait and even if it's true, would an ego driven careerist put his legacy at risk by jeperdizing the security of this country?
I'm getting really tired now. I think that's most of it. Now I might go wack off.
