Each of the big speakers at the Republican convention spoke in front of a giant screen with giant photos to help out make their point.
Rudy Giuliani spoke in front of the NYC skyline to highlight the fact that he'll use 9/11 for whatever purpose pops into his head.
Sarah Palin spoke in front of Mount Rushmore to highlight the fact that she has more executive experience than George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Teddy Roosevelt, and Abraham Lincoln combined.
And John McCain stood in front of a middle school that has the same name of what he wanted to stand in front of, because his campaign's incompetent.
The first thing I thought when I saw the zoomed-out version of McCain speaking in front of that school was that it was one of his mansions (Chris Wallace thought the same thing). Perhaps the campaign, I though, had gone entirely postmodern and was presenting a caricature of the McCain Housing Crisis. The New Yorker helped Obama in that department, and McCain was not going let him corner the ironic voting bloc.
Or maybe the picture is something that strikes fear into the hearts of Republicans: a public school.
See? Even Republican fear-mongering is out of touch.
