In this footage recorded today at a campaign event in Flint, Michigan Barack dismantles the McCain/Palin argument claiming they are the only ones who can bring change to Washington.
Barack defines the difference between McCain's idea of change and his idea of change in a pretty forceful way. He points out how he has consistently called for change on all the key issues that matter in this election while continuing to define McCain and Palin as more of the same.
Works for me.
I agree with Jed Lewison of The Jed Report (thanks for posting this vid to your site, Jed!) that McCain goofed and gave Barack home field advantage by abandoning his strongest argument - "experience" - in order to try to steal the "change" mantle from Barack. This is reminiscent of the primaries when everyone in the Democratic race tried to grab the change mantle after Barack has been synonymous with it for nearly a year. McCain has just walked into a trap of his own making. This is a strategic blunder of epic proportions.
By the way. I am in agreement with Al Giordano of The Field who called out the Chicken Littles in a scathing diary that's currently on the rec list. I believe that too many of the naysayers and whiners don't realize how they are betraying their ignorance about what's going on in the campaign when they create one diary after another lecturing Barack about what he needs to be doing while he's already doing it. If you're not happy with the way the campaign is going, then certainly you have the right to express that. Just keep in mind that a lot of your negativity and gloom is discouraging a lot of people who have been busting their asses to help the Democrats and the reason they get so frustrated and incensed with all the second guessers and armchair strategists is because they know that had the "Sky is Falling!" crowd done their homework they'd find that there is often information out there that debunks their premise.
And I'm done.
UPDATE I: I just thought I needed to add this little known video of John McCain getting confrontational with AFL-CIO workers a couple of years back. It seems McCain has such a low view of the working man that he thinks most Americans would turn up their noses at an offer to pick lettuce in Yuma, Arizona - even if you offered them $50.00 an hour to do it.
To paraphrase Mr. so-many-homes-I-gotta-ask-my-staff-to-count-them:
"That's not change that you can believe in."
UPDATE II: Oh snap. Obama Barack's their asses on with his response to their "Original Mavericks" ad:
"No Maverick"
The ad closes out by calling them BOTH liars. Hellz yeah!
I just thought I'd add this campaign sign that's more truthful than any McCain/Palin ad so far:
And this, as a testament to what the home stretch will bring:
Stick and move, Baracky! Stick and move!
