Amidst all the talk about the Bridge to Nowhere, and Sarah Palin’s contorted justifications in being for it before being against it, comes this item from Anchorage Daily News not widely reported, if at all, down here in the Lower 48.
(Alaska) is continuing to build a road on Gravina Island to an empty beach where the bridge (to nowhere) would have gone -- because federal money for the access road, unlike the bridge money, would have otherwise been returned to the federal government .– August 31, 2008, Mayor Bob Weinstein, Ketchikan, Alaska. Bold type mine.
So the people of Alaska are aware of it. Are they up in arms? No. They like free shit paid for by us continentals.
What governor would approve continued funding for a beach road improvement that leads to an abandoned bridge project? A governor who talks out of both sides of her pork-filled mouth, that’s who.
I want my money back. All of it!
