I'm watching the news right now, and guess what is on the air. "Lipstickgate." thats right, this non story is what is domminating the cycle. Not the sleazy sex-ed ad from McCain, not the Bridge to nowhere Lie, not questions on McCain attacking lobbyists but having his campaign run by them, nor my favorite McCains involvment in the Keating 5 scandal. How about even McCain cheating on his wife who waited for him as a POW with Cindy?
Yup, none of that is getting hammered home. The Obama campaign is on its heels, obviously weighing how to approach this. They are worried about Palin and sexism, but guess what, when you take your sweet time, you lose ground, and their narative is what takes hold. It's what the dems have done the last few elections, then decide to get mad and fight back, but it's way too late.
This Dem has had enough, to quote a great movie (Network)
I'M MAD AS HELL AND I'M NOT GONNA TAKE IT ANYMORE
(please see this movie, and think, newscorp). I'm gonna take action, and you should too.
There is tons of crap going on folks, as I listed above, we have a lot to talk about. We need to not only defend these lies of McCain and Palin, but that's not enough. It's time to remind the press about these items, especially nuggetts from the past that haven't had their time in the sun yet in this campaign. What can we do?
- Most every news site has a tip email address. Send in these "tips" with some citation from news sources that most would consider mainstream (Washington Post rather than Huffington Post). Make it professional and give your real name and email if it asks for it.
- Write letters to the editor. I know, for the most part this section is old people bitching about the new traffic circle and how confusing it is, but really, it's a great way to get your idea out there into the community. the most important part of these letters is present the facts, cite sorces and most of all, don't come across as some nut job.
- Message boards are useless, don't waste yoru time.
- Look for the latest news here and on Huffington, Rawstory, etc, ones you might not see on MSNBC, CNN, or (Fox). I've built up a nice mental list of attack points with citation to hammer away on the McCain/Palin ticket.
- Inform everyone around you, through yoru blog, facebook page, word of mouth, etc. The more people who hear the story, the greater the circle it can spread to.
- Focus your online efforts to swing states, they need help.
Finally, Don't forget, the republicans are going to do ANYTHING to win, so expect lies lies lies. know the truth so you can brush them aside quickly then go on the attack. Just keep punching, never let up, we have 55 days left and it's up to us apparently to leave some black eyes.
