Mr. Gibson
In as much as most of the attention by the media in the past few days of the 2008 Presidential campaign seems to be focused on Bridges, Pigs, Private Jets, Daily living allowances, Sex Ed for Kindergarten children, etc etc etc. And since Senator McCain seems to have relegated the responsibility of his campaign almost completely to his Vice Presidential candidate, I think the entire country would be extremely grateful if you could ask Ms. Palin to give us some reaction to a few issues that seem very pressing at this time.
Please follow me below:
The unemployment rate seems to have reached an all time high causing many of us to fear that we are entering a serious recession.
We have had over 600,000 job losses in the first eight months of 2008.
The congressional budget office reports that there will be a $407 billion dollar deficit for FY 2008 more than twice that of FY2007. They are predicting that it will be much higher in FY2009
The US Dept of Agricultural is saying that we will be faced with the biggest increase in food prices in 20 years.
Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac used accounting rules that created a "house of cards" as the housing market descended into its worst slump since the Great Depression. Please explain why these two organizations are regularly lobbied by one of your senior campaign staff and what part they had in such lax accounting procedures. Why were the CEO's of these companies given virtual blank check compensation packages? Did this happen just overnite or has there been a systemic problem that began years ago?
Over the weekend the dollar weakened against other major currencies as investors worried about these two major mortgage providers
The rate of mortgages going into foreclosure has hit another high according to The Mortgage Bankers Association.
Factoring in inflation, hourly wages were only 0.2% higher, and weekly wages were actually 0.8% lower in July 2008 than in March 2001.
Barack Obama has consistantly said, and independent expers have verified, that if your income is less than $250,000 than your taxes will go down. Why does your campaign continue to say that Mr. Obama will raise all taxes?
Since the Republican Party has had nearlly complete control of this country for the past seven years, why should we believe that the nominees of the Republican Pary can go to Washington where a significant number of Republican congressman are still in congress and have any hope or intention of changing things.
I have two other lists of questions about war in Iraq , and health care, but perhaps this could get us started.
Thanks Mr. Gibson. The American people will really appreciate it if you can help us get some straight talk. Frankly it seems to many of us that it will just be more of the same and that all they really want is a "do over". Many of us think that lip stick and pigs is really just a bunch of smoke. Enough is enough! What happened to the straight talk express?
