In 2000 I was a whole hearted supporter of John McCain.
I knew what the man stood for and I felt McCain
was the best Candidate for President.
I cheered his back handing of religious zealots,
the way he railed against party nepotism and
politics. The way McCain reached across
party lines and seem to give practical solutions
to political problems and compromise.
Then I watched what the Republican/Bush/Rove
machine did to McCain with lies such as the
illegitimate Black baby BS, and I felt for him.
I now watch the McCain on TV is 2008 in total
disbelief. Everything he was against he now
embraces. This is not the man I wanted to vote
for in 2000, I do not recognize the current
day McCain!
McCain pandered to the Far Right with his pick of
Palin. He HUGGED Bush! He supported the
Bush policies of Immigration and tax cuts that
months earlier McCain had ridiculed!
McCain has embraced Rovian divisive politics
that drive wedges ever deeper between the
political parties and Americans.
McCain now has become the very enemy he fought
against in 2000.
McCain talks of change, but it is McCain who
has changed and for the worst.
McCain speaks of his willingness to lose an
election rather than losing a war.
McCain doesn't mention he is also willing
to betray his beliefs to win an election.
