I sit here wondering how it is this country let itself go so far down the path to Orwell's 1984. And I am grateful at this moment for the internet and for this site in particular. Because even if the powers that be find some fantastical way to throw this election to the McCain/Palin Bible thumpin, empire ridin, tax evadin express, we will at least have documentation of the events as they transpire. It's not just that "throwing" an election will be harder this time around, it's that "throwing" an election will be so well documented that the thieves will be unable to govern.
Right now, at the apex of the Palin/Convention fiasco, the electoral college has Obama winning with 273 votes. That data is from the republican shill site, realclearpolitics.com.
Pollster.com cited the Dkos poll today. So this site has legitimacy in some quarters already.
Now Fox news and especially O'Reilly have begun to demonize Dkos on a daily basis. Why is this? I don't think it is to dampen our spirits. I think they know that the "facts have a Democratic bias" this campaign season, and that this site, in particular, is really, really, interested in facts.
So, giving credit where credit is due, Fox news seems to be taking on the assignment of marginalizing DKos. Trying to Michael Moore us. Well that dog won't hunt, because all us geeks are so damned fact and reality oriented.
We could point out for example, that even by the state polling on the Republican shill site on 9/11/2008, Obama was shown to be ahead in the electoral college. Not by much, but by enough.
So fuck you Fox and friends, in spite of the innumerable positive McCain polls today, Obama still wins the election.
