Perfect proof of the "change" McCain will bring is the person he has tapped to help his transition team should he win the election.
Oh, not just a lobbyist. Arguably, the lobbyist, senior division, whom Time calls one of the major insiders of D.C.
Intrigued? Outraged? Who he?
William E. Timmons, Sr. ...is the chairman-emeritus of Timmons and Company, a small but influential lobbying firm he founded in 1975, shortly after leaving the White House. According to Senate records, he registered to lobby in 2008 for a wide range of companies and trade groups, including the American Petroleum Institute, the American Medical Association, Chrysler, Freddie Mac, Visa USA, and Anheuser-Busch.
He served as an advisor to GHWBush in 1992 ann Dole in 1996.
So, in answer to Jimi's question, he is experienced, just in the wrong way.
More from Time;
By tapping Timmons, McCain has turned to one of Washington's steadiest and most senior inside players to guide him in the event of a victory — but also to someone who would represent the antithesis of the kind of outside-of-Washington change he has recently been promising.
Now I don't expect the average voter to learn everything about Timmons. But add him to Charlie Back et al, and you have the destruction of the Maverick Myth.
Ahhhhh, the American Petroleum Institute. Drilling you for many years. America needs to look behind the curtain of the McCain campaign. How many lobbyists does it take to bring change we need?
