I am not sure why this is so hard, but the advertising for our team is generally anemic and soft. I say embrace the wolf.
We take what they give and they have given a lot. The mockery and derision is a good start. Making fun of them consistently on the ridiculousness is one way to shame independents to pay attention and rally the base. And here in NC, I can tell you that the base needs to be rallied.
Mccain keeps giving us great stuff -- use it! I love the wolf. I think Obama should embrace the wolf. He should go to a battleground state at a university like Neveda wolfpack or ncstate wolves and say he will defend his pack (America) and hunt down the prey (insert image of Osama Bin Laden). He'll be vigilant and cunning.
They give us great stuff -- lipstick on a pig. That should be a line he uses on every campaign stop and in every speech. Josh Marshal has an image of a lipsticked pig with Mccain Palin on its side -- amen!
Obama derided Mccain, made fun of them -- do it. Mocking and derision is one of the few ways to deal with the ridiculousness -- Colbert and Stewart give their audiences a solid dose of it every night -- why doesn't the campaign give the American people some insightful humor --
Clearly what's going on now is not working; as our friend Todd on msnbc quipped, mccain knows how to own a news cycle. And he has owned them since the convention.
If we represent change, why are the advertisements the same? Why is the campaign advertising and messaging being run like every other democratic campaign I can remember? If we are change, why do have DINOs talking for us and responding in the most milquetoast fashion?
Why is this so hard for our side? Own the cycle -- make fun of them, embrace what they give you, and don't apologize -- whatever you do don't apologize.
