An extraordinary protest against Sarah Palin is being reported by McClatchy.
Hundreds gather for anti-Palin rally in downtown Anchorage
The protest came two hours after the governor held a morning rally in downtown Anchorage, attended by as many as 1,500 cheering supporters, then flew off to Nevada to resume campaigning. It's the first public demonstration against Palin since she accepted McCain's offer on Aug. 29
The protest came two hours after the governor held a morning rally in downtown Anchorage.
Protesters said they were surprised at the size of the crowd, and said it was the result of e-mails that have been forwarded over the past few days about the event.
"I was stunned when I was coming here; I've never seen anything like this," said Marybeth Holleman of Anchorage.
I have to admit that I am among the many who are weary of Sarah Palin diaries, so to not only post one and to actually ask you to recommend it does not come naturally. But I do ask you to recommend it.
We need to get as much visibility of what has happened in Anchorage as we can. The protesters deserve support. Sarah Palin deserves her unpopularity among many in her home State to be made widely known.
Today, reflecting I think an original view expressed by Thereisnospoon, Daily Kos said that there was a specific job that you bloggers could do that Obama cannot - express outrage and disgust.
I cannot help but feel that the protest of those good people in Anchorage is partly a reflection of the work that you have done. I hope that you will keep doing it.
An extraordinary protest but an extraordinary warnng as well to the McCain campaign. There is just so much of their distortions and outright lies that bloggers can take. There is just so much that ordinary people in the street can take. When they combine together, McCain should be very worried indeed.
UPDATE From Mattc below comes this additional information:
Someone counted with a clicker.Over 1,400 anti-Palin protesters. Around 90 Palin supporters. Possibly the biggest protest in Alaska history, it was great!
