So, Sarah Palin's an expert on Russia because she lives about 767 miles from the most eastern part of mainland Russia (that's about the distance from Richmond, Virginia to Paducah, Kentucky, and just 100 miles further than from Arlington, Virginia to Hamilton, Ontario in Canada). She's also an expert on Mexico because she took a vacation there one time (Tijuana or Cancun, I'm not sure). She's an expert on Ireland because she was on a plane that refueled there (coming back from visiting Alaska troops in Kuwait - NOT in Iraq as the McCain campaign had claimed). Etc., etc.
So, I was thinking, which countries am I an expert in, according to Sarah Palin logic? Here's a list of countries I've visited, including brief stops at airports for refueling or whatever.
Argentina, Austria, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Costa Rica, Czech Republic, Ecuador, Egypt, El Salvador (brief stop at airport), France, Germany, Guatemala, Hungary, Iceland (brief stop at airport), Israel, Italy, Jordan, Luxembourg, Peru, Portugal, Slovakia (on a train to Prague), Spain, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, and Vatican City.
Also, should I count Sudan since I was right at the border? What about Saudi Arabia, since I could see it from the Sinai? Perhaps Lebanon, since I was within a few feet of the border? And of course Syria, same deal from the Golan Heights?
Oh, and of course I'm an expert on Russia since I studied Russian for a year. Hey, this is fun! What countries are YOU an expert in? :)
P.S. That's a photo of Iceland from the air.
