In the same aspect, it is time that we start looking at the reality of the situation that Democrats are facing. Obama might lose because he is African-American, period.
This link is exactly what I am speaking of in my state of Michigan...Wonder how many other states are just like this......How the Large and Still Untapped Black Vote in Detroit Could Be a Deciding Factor in the Presidential Election
What gives me the right to say this? I am African-American too. I have watched this campaign with many others, watched the MSM coverage, looked at the polls, talked to friends and family that look like me and we all are thinking the same thing...Obama will probably lose this race because he is African-American.
Of course, a majority of American's will not be this honest. Real race issues are discussed among others that look like us. Think of the neighborhoods of which we live. Do you actually stay on a street that is equal racial divided or do you (as most American's do) stay on a street that is a majority of one race or the other?
Think of your church? Do most of you go to church with people that look like you. On Saturday's, do you go out couple's night dinner and a movie with a couple of the opposite race. Except for school, do your children regularly "hang-out" with people of a different race than them. If they do, are your children looked upon as "She/He wants act like they are Black or White" to others in the school, your family or neighbors.
The reality of this situation is really causing me to be doubtful of a win for Obama. Obama, a great candidate, would be the first African-American male to be at the top position "President" unchecked by a white counterpart. How can you say that, some will ask. There have been Black CEO's, a former U.N. Director and some Governor's of states that were and are Black (Deval Patrick for example).
Well, a CEO is checked by the board of directors and shareholders of a company, the U.N. Director was not elected by the American U.N. vote alone....the rest of the world do not view African-Americans as we American's do...look at Obama's visit overseas, a governor is checked by federal laws that are enacted by a majority of white congressman (women) and Senators.
This leads me to Sarah Palin. Ms. Palin does not have to be too smart, know alot of the issues (international policy), both of her daughters could be preggers today (so far one of them is and you can bet the other one will not be) she can fire people on a whim, think that abortion should be done in backrooms or anything else negative and against the "principals" most Democrats stand for.....the point is that Sarah Palin is White and many White people will vote for her before the "Black Guy" all day long. In the end, it is about their comfort level and she portrays a comfort level to them...she is like the people they go to dinner with on that Saturday night with the husband, she is like the people that stay on their street, she is similar to a lady at their church and finally, she is like some members of their family.
Like it or not, even the Daily Kos polls states that it is close....Obama 47-McCain 45. This is worrisome and I believe, tells a sign of things to come.
I believe that unless something major happens in Obama's favor the next two weeks, he is going to lose this thing. I am beginning to worry that maybe the party should have just nominated Hillary Clinton. The underlying reason that Sarah Palin was picked because she was a White Woman that is familiar to other people most White people know....and she is not Black. At least Hillary is smart and would have supported most of the Democratic agenda.
This hurts like hell say as a African-American female but, I am more than beginning to think that Obama might cannot pull this out.
The larger issue above all of the economic mess that America's faces, is that Obama is African-American. One too many White voters will not let a African-American man have, as they perceive, too much power unchecked. See, if Obama was the Vice-Presidental candidate, not the Presidental candidate and any White person was in the other position, White Candidate Unnamed and Obama would be leading this race by 10 points plus.
Will America ever change? I doubt it in my lifetime. Instead, they would prefer to see themselves in front of a soup kitchen than vote for the "Black" guy.
This is reality! We need to face it. Obama is a great candidate who will still get my vote (even though it probably will not count for victory in the end) but unfortunately great too many African-American leaders are not looked as great leaders by some White People, until they are dead and gone. Think Martin Luther King.
I know many will disagree with me. Frankly, I believe that they do not wish to face the inbred racism that exist in this society today, will be the same tomorrow, after the election and well into the future. Over 200 years of race being a major issue in America society will not change.
The worst part is that Obama is probably the best candidate for the job. Well, now I know that the best candidate does not always win...not if he is African American.
