I'm sitting here listening to some CNN News and what come across the tube, she says word is just coming in about damaged Oil Platforms and Pipelines in the Gulf after Ike.
So I doos a quick search and the best I can find that showed it was posted about an hour before my search is a Blomberg post.
Oil Falls to Six-Month Low as Refineries Escape Major Damage
Which now isn't there.
Why do folks use Blomberg? Seems if I am ever sent there they've got things abit out of wack.
So I wait abit and do a few more searches, finally coming up with this:
Some platforms, pipelines in Gulf were destroyed or damaged, with Blomberg still not updated and none of the standard wire services carrying anything yet. USA Today seems to be the go to now, go figure.
This is abit of what it says:
Update at 4:54 p.m. ET: At least 10 production platforms were destroyed by the storm, according to Lars Herbst, regional director for the Minerals Management Service. The Associated Press added that although the assessments were preliminary, he said the damage appeared far worse than that caused by Hurricane Gustav two weeks ago. Here's the Interior Department agency's preliminary damage assessment for Gustav.
And we find this:
Ike Damages Oil Platforms, Gas Prices Spike
Gasoline prices surged again in the U.S. on Sunday, above $5 a gallon in some places, as oil companies, refiners and others began sorting out the damage from Hurricane Ike's lashing of the petroleum-rich Gulf of Mexico and the region's mass of refineries.
*****
Later on Sunday, federal officials say it appears Hurricane Ike destroyed a number of production platforms and damaged some of the pipelines in the Gulf of Mexico.
With the refineries down with damage or no power and it'll take awhile to bring them back online look for a week, starting before you leave tomorrow, of rising prices, not what Blomberg is spouting.
Five or more? Who knows, but a normal expected hike, because of the storm, and a possible growing report from the Gulf sites, you know the bottom lines will jump above what they should, with all the normal excuses given!!
