I stole my headline, because it's worth repeating, and it's true. The $5,000 tax credit is for families and it's only half the story. John McCain will raise your taxes. If you make less than $100,000 per year, you are going to feel it big time.
Unless you earn over $250,000 per year, Obama's plans have you paying less in taxes and have a better shot at accessing health care.
John McCain deceives his party base about health care. He's hopes his supporter, let's say... a mother of 5 children, never figures out that McCain's plans will morph her family's tax bill and health care bills into a new combination that will be bigger than what she's paying now.
McCain is counting on what he thinks is a fact, that people are too stupid to figure this out.
Let me summarize what Joe Klein over at Time says about John McCain's health plan - First it Sucks....Then it Blows.
But make no mistake: this plan [McCain's] will do little or nothing for those who do not have insurance now--unless they are young and healthy--and it may well hurt a fair number of workers, especially unionized workers, who get gold-plated benefits from their employers.
snip,
It is amazing to me that Obama campaign has let things go this far without pointing out that McCain--who opposes the energy bill because it would increase taxes on oil companies--is actually proposing a tax increase on health care benefits for American workers. But that is precisely what the Senator from Arizona is doing.
Good Point. Why isn't Obama pointing out McCain's Tax hypocrisy?
We need to simplify our health care message.
We need to say it like it is:
- McCain Makes employer health insurance contributions taxable.
- McCain's tax credit won't be enough for many workers like teachers, police officers, fire fighters and retail employees.
- McCain's plan won't reduce the number of uninsured people (currently at 47 million).
- McCain's tax credit is paid directly to insurance companies and the tax payer must make up a premium payment gap the tax credit doesn't cover.
- The employee may have trouble making premium payment gap because they will have a lower net paycheck due to higher federal withholding.
- Employers will be inclined to reduce or eliminate health insurance benefits since it will no longer be advantageous to offer them.
- More people will be forced onto more expensive Individual Health Insurance policies that cover less.
- McCain's plan encourages people who lose employer health insurance benefits to "go bare" further increasing the number of uninsured people.
- & 10. awww, round out 9 and 10 for me, thanks.
This is an outline of a Pro-Death policy.
