John McCain is being called out for another lie today by Tapper of ABC News. But what's more important is that the evidence which refutes his claim is something that we'd all LOVE to bring back into the MSM narrative anyway! McCain is quoted as saying:
"Two years ago, I warned that the oversight of Fannie and Freddie was terrible, that we were facing a crisis because of it, or certainly serious problems," Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., told CBS this morning.
But in this video from December of 2007, McCain is quoted as saying:
"But so, in this whole new derivative stuff, and SIBs and all of this kind of new ways of packaging mortgages together and all that is something that frankly I don’t know a lot about.
"But I do rely on a lot of smart people that I have that are both in my employ and acquaintances of mine. And most of them did not anticipate this.
...
"So, I’d like to tell you that I did anticipate it, but I have to give you straight talk, I did not."

Not only does this clearly refute his claim of having foreseen this current crisis, but it's also McCain, AGAIN, admitting that he knows Jack shit about the economy! Having just made a claim yesterday that NEEDS to be refuted, he has re-opened the door for us to use this line of attack against him. And with the economy being what it is, there could not be a worse time for McCain for the voters to be reminded of this. This looks like a 2 for 1 gift for the Obama campaign - another instance of McCain LYING (which is the current MSM narrative) AND an excuse to play video of McCain admitting his ignorance of the most important issue to voters right now. And the fact that this is coming on the heals of his "let's get a commission to fix it" suggestion, well that's just icing on the cake.
UPDATE: Unlike McCain, Obama DID warn of this...
