I just can't seem to place my finger on the movie it seems to remind me of. Does anyone have any suggestions?
I think of movies like "Wag the Dog," but wasn't that a movie about politicians who fake a war? In this case, we have fake politicians pretending to be presidential candidates when they really are not.
So, then, the McCain campaign is reminiscent of movies like Dave, in which an ordinary citizen takes on the role of president when the real president comes down with an illness.
More random late night musings below.
Sarah Palin reminds me of a female version of Forrest Gump, the one big difference being that she is pure evil, while Gump had a heart of gold.
As for John McCain, he reminds me of the version of Mr. Wilson played by Walter Mathau in the live-action version of Dennis the Menace. Except Mr. Wilson seemed much more intelligent than McCain. They both have the same sort of gruff attitude, though.
I don't know, I'm searching here. Any help would be appreciated.
UPDATE: This actually is a serious diary. Sort of. I really do want to figure out what movie the McCain campaign is reminding me of. I do admit, though, that I've been reduced to this trivial pursuit of useless knowledge because Barack Obama failed to agree to do town hall meetings with John McCain.
Honestly, I lost the ability to take the campaign seriously after I just read that John McCain erroneously thought Spain was a country in Latin America. This coming right after reading about Palin's answer to her first, tough, hard hitting softball question from an town hall audience member.
