First, he said the "fundamentals of the economy are strong." Wrong answer, Senator! Absolutely indefensible and the deregulator revealed his true GOP corrupt, corporate ways.
Then he said that he thinks a commission should be set up to figure out what went wrong. Again, wrong! You are supposed to lead and such a "pass the buck" move is not leadership, but politics as usual.
So, what does he do then? With his back against the wall and the need to show some leadership - some affirmative action...
He says he would fire the SEC chief if he was President.
Well, Senator McCain, WRONG AGAIN!
Our nominee - former Constitutional Law Professor - Barack Obama needs to hit it out of the park and state the very clear Supreme Court Case Law dating back from the F.D.R. days that such a move by a President is ILLEGAL! Absolutely unconstitutional and impossible for President to fire the head of an independent regulatory committee!
You have no idea what you are talking about, do you, Senator McCain?
Yet another flub and gaffe from McCain!!!!
UPDATE: ABC picked it up, with response from McCain campaign avoiding the issue that their proposed action is UCONSTITUTIONAL AND ILLEGAL! McCain campaign clearly did not know firing would be illegal, instead trying to talk about requesting a resignation instead and some b.s. talk about a customary expectation... Well, there's also a "customary expectation" that when a party and its corrupt policies of selling out the public has run the country's economy into a ditch for the past eight years, the other party gets voted in! And Bush still has confidence in this SEC Chair. So, Senator McCain, why then don't you get on the phone and tell Bush you don't have any confidence in his leadership as President!
