Just as America needs John McCain and Republicans to recant their entire economic philosophy, the leaders of the DLC, including former President Clinton need to similarly recant their political and economic philosophy.
Don't get me wrong, I am not trying to rehash feud with the Clintons by any means. And as far as I'm concerned, there isn't evidence that Hillary was complicit but the first step to fixing a horrible mistake is to admit fault and apologize. The DLC wing of the Democratic Party and the entire Republican Party owes America an apology... on their knees... begging for forgiveness... because this mess they caused may take a generation to dig out of and cause America submit to China as the dominant world economic power (despite the fact that China is poisoning people with their food).
The new Democratic Party is the party of fiscal discipline. Yes Bill Clinton gave America a surplus but there was a crucial sell-out along the way. At least Democrats today are calling out the Republicans on their welfare for the rich:
Pelosi criticized Tuesday's $85 billion Federal Reserve loan to failing insurer American International Group.
"Where is that money coming from?" she demanded. "What is its impact on our deficit?"
Senate Budget Committee Chairman Kent Conrad, a North Dakota Democrat, said there was no answer. "Who knows, and who knows how much it will cost," he said. "All we can do is pray."
Pelosi fired off other questions: "How does this work? I mean, a private company, can they just run wild again, anything goes?"
White House Press Secretary Dana Perino replied.
"I don't think that the reaction of finger-pointing from Democrats to the White House is anything new," she said. "I would ask you to go back and look and ask Speaker Pelosi or any of the other Democrats who are pointing fingers, what specific regulation did they want that we blocked? What specific regulation did we eliminate?"
Of course the answer to WH Press dittohead Perino's question is: repeal of the Glass-Steagall Act is the regulation that 44 Democratic senators didn't want repealed in 1999 (before they rolled over for the DLC wing of the party and almost unanimously passed the POS Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act).
Despite the past and the need to reconcile, what we need NOW is non-DLC progressives in Congress and we need Barack Obama as president.
"He's calling for the firing of the Securities and Exchange Commission(er)," Obama said, "Well, I think that's all fine and good, but here's what I say: In the next 47 days, you can fire the whole Trickle-Down, On-Your-Own, Look-the-Other-Way crowd in Washington who has led us down this disastrous path. Don't just get rid of one guy, get rid of this administration, get rid of this philosophy, get rid of the do nothing approach and put somebody in there who is going to fight for you."
Obama noted that McCain earlier this week said that "the fundamentals of the economy are strong."
"This comment – this comment was out so out of touch that even George Bush’s White House couldn’t agree with it when they were asked about it," Obama said.

President Clinton and the DLC wing of the Democratic Party owe America an apology just as much as the Republicans do. Maybe more...because Democrats were supposed to be the firewall against the tyranny of the wealthy and they failed while trying to be "centrists."
God help us get out of this mess that the ultra-rich and their puppets in Washington have gotten us into...
