From the Gristmill Blog,a link to the Reuters Article:
Pickens says Wal-Mart to study switch from diesel
HOUSTON (Reuters) - Texas oil tycoon T. Boone Pickens said on Wednesday he has convinced the head of Wal-Mart Stores Inc to study the possibility of switching the fuel used for the retailer's huge fleet of delivery trucks to compressed natural gas, from diesel.
So I not shocked that he was a guest at the associates meeting or that he and the CEO of Patriot Energy are out trying to get more market penetration for Natural Gas, business is business.
I read somewhere that Domestic Trucking uses 30% of refined gas products in the United States(A Seigle or anyone for that matter, feel free to jump in here with a link to prove or disprove).
I know that this is theoretically great for the environment, and the economy as new truck engines are bought and brought online in the United States. GHG emissions will be greatly reduced in the operation of the new fleet, WalMart Stock will continue to rise as the cost of operations is reduced in comparison to competitors.
What I would like to know is:
IF 10% of all trucks were converted
What total of Nat Gas could be displaced,
and
to what extent could the price of Nat Gas rise?
