I did something dumb tonight. My wife saw True Blood while she was staying in a hotel on a business trip, and apparently the new HBO series "True Blood" is all the bomb. I bet it is.
I would have waited till it came out on DVD, but she wanted to see it, so we got HBO, and the next thing I know I'm tuning into the misogynist in cheif, Bill Maher, just to check in on what's going on on that little show.
And he SMACKED DOWN andrew sullivan for sticking up for religious people.
I didn't care about that. Low hanging fruit on a "progressive" show.
But I was listening carefully and I heard will.i.am say something interesting.
He said, and I will look up the transcript when it becomes available, that African Americans believe in God because the American government let them down.
He talked about Katrina, and how the American government was late in arriving. That's true. But is that why African Americans go to church and pray to god?
I don't think so.
why does anyone believe in God?
