First let me give credit to Stirling Newberry's Dairy. I thought it would go over my head on first skim but it inspired me to reply out my out rage of this current political farce on a gaming site I've posted on for years which has mostly conservatives.
A year ago I never paid attention fully to politics. I find the irony now that the importance of this election cycle has drawn me in full hilt. So much Ive been reading Paul Krugman's Conscious of a Liberal and digesting as much history and info about our current situation as I could these past months.
Just to highlight my main frustration. Don't let Bush/McCain fool you... Is it coincidental that this economic crises happens just TWO weeks before October? The problem is, this is too much Kool Aid for even true Republican's at heart to drink now. Note I am very conservative in my approach as I am arguing my thoughts out as a Liberal Democrat speaking to Conservatives in mind. I've added some touches though for Dkos.
Also, every dairy at this point should have some action suggestions repeated over and over because time is of the essence.
This is everyone here just spewing out there opinion, so if you express yours as you see it then expect a debate. Alot of it may be based on assumptions but hey thats politics, and boy has this weekend given me alot to vent about~
As far as my opinion goes which Ive been spewing out alot lately here, it really seems to me that McCain has no chance now... And my anger with the Bush/Paulson proposal has already been called out by Obama. Does anyone think its mere coincidence that this housing market crash is happening just a few months before Bush is about to leave office? And Paulsons proposal is to ask the American tax payer for 700 billion dollars at gun point with no discretion. They have been delaying the severe warnings of this financial crash since 2005 because they refused to regulate. You would be stupid at this point to not connect the dots that McCain and Bush have something up their sleeve with this farce.
Problem for Bush is that measures can and will be taken by the Democrat Congress, as Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi called out his farce Sunday evening. Discretion will be used, Congress may have to call a state of emergency so Dubbya doesnt try and play any more "executive power" before he leaves office. I hope provisions will be made to allow this to be handled for the most part by the new administration. If Obama fucks up then, fuck it, call me on it then but I hated the BS of Iraq and I'm hating the BS of this economic crisis.
Democrat and Republican elites signed up for this economic plan at first (hence Clinton letting the Graham-Leach-Biley bill of deregulating the housing market pass) and now that its proven to fail, these said elites are trying to play their last card. Fact remains is Obama has the hand in actually being the only candidate that forcefully is asking for relief to the middle class, in both the housing market and increased quid pro quo for our tax money helping this relief to our market. Asking foreign countries to assist in their mutual need to see the American/global economy stabilize is also a good policy that so far Obama is the only one proposing. We have to change our countries market from oil dependence and its no secret that an oil family in executive power wanted Iraq to succeed. Which it unanimously failed at this point and there is no way to achieve "victory" financially there now. If this current crisis doesn't spell it out enough for you now then nothing will. Also this universal agreement of Energy independence will not happen from a relic old politician who has been against any other energy policy then an oil one in his voting record. Or the party for that matter that spearheaded our current direction.
Republicans want Obama to concede on the Surge which he did with Oreily, when will McCain concede defeat on our economic policy? Oh wait... he can't if he wants any hope to win so that makes him a liar yet again.
Call me a blind crazy liberal if you want. I bet before the day I die I will probably vote a republican in after this neo conservative and neo liberal(some democrat congress people need to go) elitism bullshit dies away. Being a liberal doesnt mean Im against conservative views, if anything most of the propagandized cultural wars are our elected officials biggest differences between these two parties. Take Social Security as an example, Bush tried to privitize in 2005. Republicans in the south who depended on it or had family that did were the most vocal against Bush's proposal on that and thats the only reason why he stopped trying then. McCain would definately try again this term.
I say fuck you to welfare queens and useless tax raises like any other pragmatic person. And I believe honest Republicans are also pragmatic in their views. Heck, I wouldn't be suprised if the true reformer of this century as far as cleaning up Washington most effectively comes from an honest Republican. It is probably what is needed at this point to save that party.
I'm personally just so very sick and tired of the shit we've gone through as a country these past 8 years. It will only get far worse with McCain in my view. I wish more people would pay attention cause this election is a game changer. Its not just simple ideals your mom and pops taught you. It is a power struggle for our democracy.
Obama may not have "experience" to some but he is far better educated then McCain, more pragmatic, and if his half trillion dollar campaign by the people(which is more then this horse race media bullshit will ever lead onto from now till nov 4) is not convincing enough for the naysayers then it doesn't matter at this point. McCain said the fundamentals of our economy is still strong.... he is still grasping to his beliefs then to admit defeat that our economy at this point will need a 21st century overhaul. A McCain victory is a victory in his beliefs no matter the cost. Not that he will make it in office at this point albeit a miracle but if he did, most of the same people will be running things and fucking things up more. Even if this ploy still gets played out and McCain starts yelling reform its too late to be believed by most or be sold off to the media. Enough middle and lower class know we will get screwed over by the neo cons without a second thought.
Ok now that I got on my podium I expect pot shots. Yet I hope for a better counter argument of McCains unarguable positives to talk me down. Don't say it, I will, I wont agree with them probably. I just also want to add as Ive said before I expect more bad and transparent contradicting gaffes from McCain and Palin. Who probably wont be in another press conference or serious interview from here till election time. Despite that I guarantee they can't resist themselves in saying stupid shit that even "objective" media has to call out.
Bush/Paulsons initial bill proposal to handle this crisis was just the last straw for me. If you think 2012 will be any different the Republican base have a lot to work on after this administration. Lets face it, neo conservative ideals have been in play and power for the most part since Reagan, Clinton slowed it down some but there were neo liberals who signed up for the ride. McCain is the only thing that agenda could run since his plain stupidity in the things he said and views he changed are kept hidden under a maverick farce. He hopefully represents the death of it along with this serious economic crisis both on wall street and main street which inevitably will demand a major change of market philosophy in this country.
How much money do you make? If its under 100,000$ a year then its becoming clear for enough of those in that bracket that real change is coming from the only candidate offering serious relief. Compared to a select corner of rich who are asking for even more tax cuts after this dismal fuck up of a ride. Something which everyone else, including many rich not just from Hollywood whom support Obama, are tired of.
So don't let this economic crisis scare you, as real as it is. Remember who brought it upon us and who is trying to seize another fear campaign against us. There are brighter greener pastures out there/
If you want my opinion of what you need to do if you agree with anything I said, then start calling or canvassing. This election requires more then just token efforts. On top of donating, you need to put your money where your mouth is.
My biggest fear and doubt of Obama is being aggressive enough to really change Washington like he says he will. Being the very first Democrat to spearhead this historical point against neo conservatism will be hard. Yet it is the greatest opportunity to dramatically change our course for the better in the next decades to come. We have to make sure Obama gets elected first for sure.
Step 1 is not believing the hype on T.V.
Step 2 is getting off your lazy ass and doing something to get Obama elected!
P.S. I stand by my gimme of a Republican reformer. While my true hope is for Obama to get a lot done, I still feel its too much for his watch and this will be a never ending battle of conservative and liberal views. I think a lot us can do a better job of convincing conservatives if we aren't assholes like their politicians are. Remember this party represents the other half of the political view. Hopefully they can be reinvented or the true reformer will ideally be from a third party finally breaking the mold. Good night kossaks, learning to love my new political home.
