I'm going to throw lots of rotten vegetables in the direction of the author. Update: To clarify, this is in response to the Slate article and various articles in other blogs, nothing that was on this site
It's after the convention, Obama hasn't self destructed. In fact, he's winning and McCain isn't throwing Obama off message anymore. Real Issues like the Wall Street Crisis are actually throwing McCain off his game. (Which I like)
So why - oh why - is Slate's Christopher Hitchens trying to make the comparison again??
Seriously, this is getting old. If I remember my history correctly at this point in time Dukakis was in a nose-dive in which he'd never recover.
Have you SEEN the trend lines recently? It's McCain whose taking the nose dive.
Hitchens calls Obama Vapid - Gutless - and Hesitant. I'd have to say anyone who runs for President has to have guts - particularly one that won the most hotly contested primary in years... And to make a speech on race in the middle of the Wright Fiasco had to take guts.
And say what you will, Obama's ship has been steady as a rock. I don't really think that deciding to stick with the plan and NOT jump and freak out at every pundit/poll or fake-scandal is what you'd call 'hesitant.' I'd call it good leadership.
So can we stop with the Dukakis talk already?
