So, after a few false starts, I am back with this for the duration of the campaign. At this point, there are finally enough polls on a daily basis to merit posting the comprehensive, end-of-the-day polling compendium that I began in 2006.
Today (Monday 9/22) is a day where we saw a total of 30 separate statewide polls released. The four national trackers (I don't include GW/Battleground, because it only polls on certain days) had an average Obama lead of 4.0 points. This is an increase of 0.75 points over Sunday's tracking. Meanwhile, the only national poll came from CNN, which had Obama leading 51-46 with registered voters, and 51-47 among the likely voters.
Go beyond the fold for the individual stats, which include a combination of polls diaried here throughout the day, and some polls I have yet to see.
PRESIDENTIAL POLLING
Today was, essentially, another decent polling day for Barack Obama. Team Obama has to be very pleased with taking two of the three polls in Virginia, as well as being near parity in neighboring North Carolina. If Obama takes either race, it is hard to see math that has McCain able to get to 270. He'd need Pennsylvania AND another substantial state.
ALABAMA: McCain 52%, Obama 25% (University of South Alabama)
FLORIDA: McCain 51%, Obama 46% (Rasmussen)
GEORGIA: McCain 57%, Obama 39% (American Research)
MICHIGAN: Obama 51%, McCain 44% (Rasmussen)
MINNESOTA: Obama 52%, McCain 44% (Rasmussen)
NEVADA: McCain 46%, Obama 45% (Suffolk University)

PENNSYLVANIA #2: Obama 48%, McCain 45% (Rasmussen)
RHODE ISLAND: Obama 47%, McCain 34% (Brown University)
SOUTH DAKOTA: McCain 55%, Obama 39% (American Research)
VIRGINIA #1: Obama 51%, McCain 45% (SurveyUSA)
VIRGINIA #2: McCain 50%, Obama 48% (Rasmussen)
VIRGINIA #3: Obama 50%, McCain 45% (ABC/Washington Post)
WISCONSIN: Obama 50%, McCain 45% (American Research)
STATEWIDE RACES
Almost all the news here is pretty good for Democrats, as well. Liddy Dole seems to be in really bad shape in North Carolina, and it seems as if despite an onslaught of negative ads, Al Franken is holding serve in Minnesota. Oh yeah, and in case you hadn't heard, New Mexico and Virginia's Senate races are DONE. One possible concern: the Research 2000 poll which had McCain +4 on Obama in Missouri has a closer-than-expected gubernatorial race.
MN-SENATE: Sen. Norm Coleman (R) 48%, Al Franken (D) 47% (Rasmussen)
MO-GOVERNOR: Jay Nixon (D) 50%, Kenny Hulshof (R) 43% (Research 2000)
NC-GOVERNOR: Beverly Perdue (D) 47%, Pat McCrory (R) 46% (PPP)
NC-SENATE #1: Kay Hagan (D) 51%, Sen. Liddy Dole (R) 45% (Rasmussen)
NC-SENATE #2: Sen. Liddy Dole (R) 43, Kay Hagan (D) 41% (Civitas Institute)
NM-SENATE: Tom Udall (D) 57%, Steven Pearce (R) 37% (PPP)
VA-SENATE #1: Mark Warner (D) 57%, Jim Gilmore (R) 34% (SurveyUSA)
VA-SENATE #2: Mark Warner (D) 61%, Jim Gilmore (R) 31% (ABC/Washington Post)
HOUSE RACES
Only two House races saw polls released today. Both of them were Democratic internals. And both of them have, as would be expected, pretty rosy numbers for the Democrats. For those who care, turncoat Democrat Michael Jackson is singing the blues (sorry, couldn't resist), scoring just 9% of the vote in the Anzalone Liszt poll in the Louisiana 6th.
ID-01: Walt Minnick (D) 43%, Rep. Bill Sali (R) 38% (Harstad Consulting)
LA-06: Rep. Don Cazayoux (D) 48%, Bill Cassidy (R) 32% (Anzalone Liszt)
And that covers the numbers for today. Lots on tap for tomorrow, as Mason Dixon is supposed to report new numbers from Florida, PPP is expected to give us some numbers out of Colorado (they are teasing an Obama lead there), and we can look to see what happens in the ever-volatile Hotline tracking poll (which went from Obama +1 to Obama +5 in a single day).
Have a good night (those of you that are still up!!).
