Hello my friends. In that past week of sifting through the latest round of political news, I've noticed that a lot of conservatives from Karl Rove to Bill O'Reilly have been calling out McCain's ads going too far or for being unfair or untruthful. Why in the world would he say this?
I'll have to admit that my jaw dropped when I saw the headline that Rove, the perceived prince of darkness for the GOP scheme machine is now trying to undercut McCain's run for the white house and continue the GOP's dynasty in the white house. There's got to be something fishy going on here.
Granted, the conservatives were trying to bring him down pre-New Hampshire primary, but that's before they knew that he had a chance and that the American people's perceived image of McCain as being a "Maverick" was the only chance that any GOP candidate had following the disaster that W is leaving behind. I think that the GOP honestly is aware that they may have gone too far and they see that it is backfiring on McCain from the MSM's portrayals.
Here's the kicker, conservatives pundits like Rove are calling BOTH candidates out for having unfair ads and in essence, calling a mulligan on this topic and make the appearance of Obama's ads as EQUALLY unfair or untruthful as to wipe the slate clean and move on and get the focus off of them. This would also give the GOP pundits and Fox news some perceived credibility for being fair and balanced. We all know that the sex education ad was viciously distorted and many, if not all, of the ads against Obama have stretched the truth in which many of the articles they referenced in their ads were out of context. Even Factcheck.org said that their comments were taken out of context. What do you think, am I being too cynical? Is the GOP throwing in the towel?
