Say it with me.
Kos quoted the Grinch, who was gearing the insider GOP-ers to deftly turn against this poison pill right before they psych enough out-of-the-loop Republicans and nervous, spineless Democrats into swallowing it.
Then they will blame the "big government libruls" when it all fails anyway.
Remember that they SEE TO IT that government solutions DON'T WORK. Katrina, anyone?
For the love of God, Democrats, you fell for their Shock Doctrinaire crap with the Patriot Act, the Iraq War, FISA, torture.. please, just STOP.
Why the hell would you give these psychopathic mafiosos one more freaking dime?
Please, this time, for once, for ONCE, for Cripes sake, don't get fooled again.
Be the ones who can truthfully brag, better late than never, that you said: "Thanks, but no thanks."
As so many astute thinkers and economists on this site have summed up for us, this Paulson package is no bailout. It's a stick-up. It's a freaking scam to beat all historic scams.
It is "Shock and Awe." It the next phase of Disaster Capitalism. As Randi Rhodes has phrased it, "pre-emptive financial war on the American people." Not a nickel left in the treasury for the next president to actually help anyone, so what will we be able to do but.. you guessed it. More privatization, baby.
Screw this. Seriously. We have better ideas for the spending of OUR money.
How about this, Congress: pass laws that allow us to prosecute the fraudulent bastards that have profited from this fiasco.
How about this, Congress: seize the assets of these assholes when they drive their company under--sell their buildings, their computers, their 50K dollar fishtanks, their stretch Hummers, their Ferragamos.. ANY hard asset. You know, like WE have to do when OUR small businesses go under.
How about this, Congress: tell the institutions to stop paying dividends to shareholders when they're operating at a loss.
How about this, Congress: bring back Roosevelt-era regulations, updated for current conditions.
How about this, Congress: close the goddamn loophole that lets corporations go offshore and evade their taxes.
How about this, Congress: pass a law saying that no CEO (or any other corporate member) can make more than 50 times what the lowest paid worker makes.
How about this, Congress: ban no-bid contracts.
How about this, Congress: abandon the expensive farce of a "border fence" and pass a law to prosecute the crap out of corporations that exploit workers and who evade wage, safety and work-hour laws
How about this, Congress: pass a law limiting the war profiteering rate to 1%.
How about this, Congress: outlaw mercenary armies and bring Blackwater's shadow coffers home.
How about this, Congress: decriminalize drugs, tax them, and put all that "War on Drugs" money into local Green Energy grants.
How about this, Congress: let struggling Main Street people re-negotiate the principle on their houses that have plummeted in value.
How about this, Congress: make the credit card companies drop peoples' late fees and service charges. Talk about stimulating the economy!
How about this, Congress: put that 700 billion into available community grants to support nonpolluting energy infrastructure, wind, solar, and organic community-level farms.
How about this, Congress: make it so we can negotiate hard with Big Pharma for the price of drugs
How about this, Congress: put that 700 billion into single-payer health care, so people won't have to go bankrupt over medical bills.
How about THIS, Congress: we are beginning to recognize that this "bailout" is actually a sellout. Of us. It is war that YOU are declaring on US, and then you're asking us to fund it. Excuse us while we oil up our torches and sharpen our pitchforks. And believe is when we say:
The candidate. Who helps pass the bailout. Will lose in November.
And so will the rest of us.
Please, in the name of all that was ever good, tell this criminal cabal to get bent.
