The Republicans finally pulled out the Reverend Wright bullet in Michigan, in this ad below. Greg Sargent at TalkingPointsMemo's Election Central talks about how this specific ad, run by The Freedom's Defense Fund, is running in Macomb County in Michigan.

Macomb County is a stronghold of unionized white workers, which makes this ad specifically targeted to divide voters on the issue of race. Right now, Macomb County is the sort of county that could tip the state of Michigan to Senator Obama or to Senator McCain. The New York Times goes into the issue of highly targeted negative advertising into greater detail by focusing on the efforts of Freedom's Defense Fund, the PAC that has the likes of Jerome Corsi as its advisor.

Here's what Freedom's Defense Fund said about their ad currently playing in Michigan:

"We feel Obama can’t win the presidency without Michigan and he can’t win Michigan without Macomb," he said. "We’re relatively small, but we’re trying to be effective and relevant."

This is a call to arms, Kossacks. It's time for us to go on offense against these guys since they are going to go out all dirty in Macomb County by planning to run an ad about Obama's so-called support of Odinga, an African leader, and highlighting his so-called "Muslim" ties.

Please CONTACT our 527,Truthandhope about their planned advertising efforts in Macomb County by e-mailing Eugene at eugene at truthandhope dot org.

Now's the time to fight back against these rotten dirty bastards. Also, please help our union, the AFL-CIO, in their efforts to dispel these rumors about Obama by donating to them so they can continue on sending out fliers about Obama's voting record on labor issues.

If you think this diary is important and that we should fight against 527s like Freedom's Defense Fund, then please contact Truthandhope, and contact the AFL-CIO, and their Michigan state affiliate. Ask them to help us fight back against these smears!

Also, here's our own Sarah Palin's wacky pastor video. Check out the time mark at 6 minutes and fifty seconds into the video.

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.
