This diary is going to be short, have an non sourced theory but if it is close then I am also offering an answer.
Now I don't hate conservatives but I dislike movement conservative. Their downfall will always be remembered as them selling off the populist or more centered Republicans. If the GOP has a chance of surviving the 21st century they are going to have to shred this bullheaded extreme ideal, dare I say even reform it completely out. It is the biggest marriage between Wall Street greed and supporting extreme religious ideals, dare I even add racism among some of its biggest leaders. Being bi racial myself and having little doubt Obama will make it in office, conservatives only hope of a survival(minus ones like Shelby and Ron Paul who have enough credit to pass with a no vote, sorry McCain you wont pass at this point) will be to make this move. Conservatism is a needed ying to our political yang so however that happens even through a new party name I just hope it gets done without any history of this core.
We may never know the truth except that McCain is a LIAR. Oh well he doesn't have much of a chance at this point, everyone should get over that already.
I am convinced Obama has shown he is the most pragmatic leader in this crisis because he loves our country and wants to see us move forward. He did not want to mix presidential race politics in this mess, McCain is the one that OFFERED an EXTREMELY and unrealistically conservative approach to that meeting. It seems more apparent now that was always his intent.... Does he fucking believe that he could have shot a maverick no vote and passed some form of EVEN MORE TAX CUTS TO THE RICH? He still does not get it, these are serious times for a more populist and COUNTRY FIRST approach.
Call me a conspiracy theorist after this but in my opinion the only reason this bailout is going through is there are too many Republican and Democrat politicians out there that would get exposed if certain people don't get golden parachutes at this point. Maybe it would be bad politically for our country to see our government fall apart so poorly at such a weak time for us in the world and that is where the urgency is. A big part of me wants to say that despite our anger it is not a bad move. One thing is for sure we will never know the honest truth.
Call it water under the bridge for me if movement conservatism leaves Obama alone to clean up our politics. The racism in their core leaders should scare any progressive or even conservative person that is not white. I think movement conservatism is going to have to move out of the way to allow some more populist conservatism revive the balance our politics will desperately need. Ron Paul is a good candidate, I don't honestly know much about Shelby but his position lately will make me look into his views more down the road. I think the Republican name is going to be hurting for a bit but a generation from now Obama will help greatly with the race issue alone in our country. The Trent Lott/David Duke era is not far behind us. Obama will be helpful for both sides of the political coin.
The house Republicans should realize that there is a BIPARTISAN answer to this and if they all just shut up about their extreme views and compromise a plan that can be explained to my limited economic knowledge that I wont get completely ripped off... that maybe you take more time on this bill or promise in it that you will regulate the market as needed, something to ease my populist mind then maybe you will have more of a chance surviving in politics.
The question all our politicians should be asking themselves is what they can do at this point to genuinely help the American people out. If you answer that with good heart, then I promise staying to the correct side of it will get you past this crisis. I know this is a scary time in politics, in fact the easiest way out of this for most of Congress is to let this pass near unanimously before you let more conspiracy theorist out of the cage.
edit: I think my feelings with movement conservative is just my bitterness of the Iraq war and seeing our country in so much debt now. I do not like that as a country we have gotten weaker over our "fight for democracy". And the divide and conquer attitude just has made me over react.
