The local media has picked up on the story of the South Florida House Republicans falling over themselves to avoid debating their surging challengers.

We've now accepted 10 debates and still have not had our opponent, Mario Diaz-Balart show up to face the voters of FL's 25th. He has recently agreed to two debates scheduled in October but it remains to be seen if he'll show. He has repeatedly accepted debates in the past but then blown them off for "scheduling conflicts" and other ridiculous excuses. Please contact him and tell him the voters of South Florida deserve to hear a discussion about the issues facing our region.

As you may have seen, my opponent Mario-Diaz Balart is scared and resorted to spreading lies.

Diaz-Balart is scared of my record of fighting for consumers so he is trying to lie his way to re-election. You and I know better though; and so does Local 10 News, who ran a truth test on Mario's latest ad and found that it was filled with false accusations and misinformation.

One can see why Mario is running away from his record. If I had been in Congress for six years and only passed one bill, while giving myself five pay raises, and voting against healthcare for children, services for our returning veterans and giving oil companies billions in tax breaks, I would be doing the same.

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.

Wish I was in FL-25 to vote against this fool.

His family connections got Belart his seat. The guy is a grade A MORON on par with Palin.

FL - especially S.FL is dumping the corrupt GOP.

Did you hear - Mark Foley, R.FL GOP child molester just snaked out from getting any jail time?  yup.  That should help the GOP in S.FL.

    Why can't we vote online?

It's great to hear from you here on Kos.  IMHO, and speaking as one in California, yours is one of the most important races for the house in the country.  Not only will you be a fantastic progressive leader, but your opponent is one of the worst of the worst.
I have contributed to you several times.

TO ALL:  If you live in south Florida, this is the place to work.  If not, head over to ActBlue and donate.

    Keep up the fight.

glad to see your local network is pestering these republicans to appear.

  •  Tie his ass to Palin and McCain's similar stunts (0+ / 0-)

Tie his ass to Palin and McCain. Both for the ticket's out-of-touch policy positions, and for the similarity in campaign stunts. (call 'em Rovian tactics, or whatever)

Not only does this strategy drag down the local Rep, but it drags down the national ticket, neutering the 'coattail' effect the Republicans had been banking on with the Palin pick.

The national Republicans knew that McCain won't win. Palin's choice was done strictly to rally the base and thus bring in campaign cash, media attention and foot soldiers, as a means of salvaging down ticket races in 'Red' districts on the verge of turning blue. The Reps aren't dumb, they have known all along that McCain stands little chance to win.

But the problem is, Palin wasn't as prepared as they thought, and the public isn't buying it. One  look at what tying Palin to McCain has done for McCain's numbers since the RNC says it all.

It's time to fully break open the Republican Palin-firewall strategy in the Congressional races, and put them out of their misery.

Democratic campaigns for the state and local races should now start tying their Republican opponent to McCain/Palin in any way they can... Not only does it harm those Rep candidates by tying them to unsavory imagery fresh in voters' minds, but it indirectly serves to reinforce Obama, and vice versa.
