mcjoan introduced many of us to Scott a couple of months ago, and I, like many, initially donated to his campaign because he is so darn good looking....
However, I did actually check out his website, scottkleeb.com, and became very impressed with his positions on energy, the economy, education, and many other issues that are important to all of us. Living in MA it's easy to take for granted the liberal benefits we enjoy, so I try to help out the only way I can, by donating to races in conservative states.
That said, I have been following the Senate race in NE, along with some other state races, and learned that Scott would be visiting Boston on a fundraising tour.
So, I last night I had the pleasure of meeting him in person...
And I can confirm, he is a very good looking man.... ; )
He spoke at length about his positions, his great state of Nebraska, and why he feels it will be a key state in the future of alternative energy sources, and helping the country move away from our dependence on fossil fuels.
I was particularly interested in his position regarding education, as my field involves supplemental publishing for K-12 schools, and he was right on. He talked about the importance of pre-K education programs, and refocusing NCLB, which has not served our children fairly.
He talked a great length about energy and the potential for alternatives, and he was articulate and comfortable explaining his position.
He is facing a challenge though, he feels that there are still about 25% of the state who don't know who he is....he also told us that he has met many people in his state that admit they have never met a Democrat in their lives! I was staggered....imagine that, they have never met a Dem in their lives....what a challenge for Scott.
So, I promised him I would post a diary asking folks to take a look at his site, (he's also an Orange to Blue candidate!) and ask you to please consider making a donation to his campaign. He only needs $300,000 to be able to try to reach that 25%, and try to make up the 9 point gap between him and his opponent. I find it impressive that in a state where there are folks who have never even met a Democrat he's ONLY down 9 points!
Please help Scott, he's a good man, and we need him in the Senate. Thanks for reading.
