As I have said here I have spent the last 20 years doing marketing for some of the largest high-tech companies around. For the last decade mostly online. And before I started working for myself I was the VP of Marketing for a small "virtual" software company. I couldn't hire an ad agency, I had to figure out stuff for myself (HTML, blogs, hosting, CSS, social networking, keyword ads, video/audio editing, you name it).
I thought all that stuff was like rocket science, it wasn't when I actually got into it.
With that said I've been wanting to set up a weekly post on some topic. Most ideas (books and food to name two) are already taken by folks that are smarter then myself and already have a following.
So I am going to what I know, online marketing. I have some very specific ideas/topics I have outlined in my head, but your input would be nice.
Below is my objective in doing this and some questions.
My objective here is very simple. I agree with Markos. We have to build our movement from the ground up. That starts at the local level. The school board. Mayor of a little town (look where it got Palin). City commissioner. You name it. Folks running for those offices don't have thousands of dollars to throw at getting a presence online.
When you are sitting at your kitchen table with your husband/wife and say "enough is enough, I'll run" where do you start? I plan to tell you how and where you start for literally a few dollars here or there and some effort.
Where I'd like some input is on what people want to know about how to set up a site and promote their campaign online.
Now I know that is a loaded question, if you already knew what needed to be done then why read what I have to say. Rest assured I have a pretty detailed outline of topics, but I always like to hear what folks here have to say.
