I normally have deep intellectual scorn for political humor, especially of the video sort, but I've had this song kicking around in my head ever since JeffLieber used it as his soundtrack in a diary earlier this week. With enough loops, it pretty quickly morphed into some frivolous agitprop.
Here's the video. Lyrics below the fold
Lyrics
Let us be brokers we'll marry our fortunes together
I've got some real estate here in my bag
so we buy a few derivatives, from Mrs. Wagner's mortgage
and walk off, to swindle America
Phil G., he told me there's no need to regulate lenders
Verifying Income's a waste of time now
I lent 400 K to a hitchhiker from Saginaw
I've gone to swindle America
Laughing on the jet
playing games with the market
he said the man in the gabardine suit was unemployed
I said "My friends, his bowtie is valid collateral"
Toss me a bailout, I think there's one in the treasury
We blew the last one on weapons and war
So I looked at my lobbyists, He picked up the telephone
and our debt rose over in China
Phil G., he said he's so tired of America's whining
But I'm empty and aching and I don't know why
Counting the lies in my latest attack ad
they've all gone to swindle America
All gone to swindle America
All gone to swindle America
And yeah, from where I was sitting, that debate WAS a slaughter. Let's not get cocky, but right now, I think Obama's best volunteers are turning out to be John McCain and Sarah Palin
