I know I am venturing into tinfoil hat territory here, but something has been bothering me since Friday night. I think McCain is preparing to replace Sarah Palin with Rudy Giuliani in his latest desperation move.
As many have noted, Palin was nowhere to be seen after the first Presidential debate. Instead the McCain campaign used Giuliani as its main surrogate with the MSM in the post-debate spin.
I predict within the next 24-48 hours, Palin will drop out for "family reasons". McCain will "regretfully" accept her resignation, and immediately announce that Rudy Giuliani has accepted the call to service for his nation as the Republican vice-presidential candidate
McCain has to know that the vp debate will be a debacle for Palin...he will attempt to dispatch her quickly and push Rudy into the role in time for him to take her place in the debate.
Pluses for McCain are:
Giuliani has executive experience, and voters still probably think of him favorably after his performance on 9/11. He "knows how to handle crisis".
He was a prosecutor who can point to taking down "Wall Street fatcats" on his resume, giving him cred at a time when Wall Street is taking a beating in public opinion.
He actually is more qualified than Sarah Palin.
Minuses:
Giuliani is pro-choice and a proven serial adulterer. McCain will take a hit from the religious right base.
I realize that this would be seen as the crass political move it is, but McCain seems not to care, and loves dramatic tomfoolery.
Watch out for Rudy.
